Located North of The Yakima Valley Wahluke Slope was officially made an AVA in 2006.
It is one washington's warmest AVS. The Ava has 81,000 acres of which 5,200 are planted.
Naturally bounded by the Columbia River to the west and south, by the Saddle mountains to the north and the HAnford Reach National Monuments to the east
There is a long grape-growing history here, centered around the tiny town of Mattawa. Unfortunatly it is well off the tourist path only two winers are located here Fox Estates and Ginko Forest Winery.
