Earl Jones loved Spanish reds, from the Rioja and Ribera Del Duero regions he had learned these wines were
made from Tempranillo grapes not common in the US. In 1989 he became committed to the challenge of
producing fine Tempranillo in the US and began searching for the ideal terroir.
In 1991 Earl and his wife Hilda found the right location in southern Oregon and started their winery and
1997 made the first commercial Tempranillo in the Pacific Northwest.
The 500-acre estate is home to Fault Line Vineyards. The vineyards are perched on steep
south-facing rocky hillsides in the melange of soils that resulted from complex faulting and erosion.
They produce: Albarino, Muscat, Viognier, Bastardo, Cabernet Franc, Claret, Dolcetto, Grenache, Malbec,
Merlot, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Tannat, Tempranillo, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Cao, Touriga and Nacional grapes.
