ANIMALE works with select eastern Washington state vineyards, where rocky soils, cool nights, low yields, small berry size, limited irrigation, and late harvests result in special grapes that make unusually complex wines.

They began commercial production with the 2001 vintage. Production is maintained right around 200 cases per year. Winemaker Matt Gubitosa has been making wine since 1991

Cadence reflects the owners and winemakers Gaye McNutt  and Benjamin Smith love of classical music, opera, dance, and their involvement in competitive cycling and triathlons. In their wines the term invokes the qualities of balance, harmony and precision.

They obtain grapes from their Cara Mia ( named for their daughter ) in the Red Mountain AVA. Here they grow Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carbernet France.

Together, they had traveled extensively to wine regions in the US and Europe, and it was during these travels that they came to love the people, the places, the pace and the passion that surrounds the art of making great wine.

Graves Cellars is dedicated to helping the Breast Cancer Fund achieve these goals, and to show our commitment, we have pledged that every year all income derived from the winery will be donated to the Breast Cancer Fund . Sadly Debbie lost her battle.
