The Grapes


With 50,000 acres of grapes grown for wines, Washington State is making a name for itself. There are now over 500 wineries in Washington State. Oregon also has over 500 wineries. There are 40 plus wineries in Idaho. Most of Idaho's other wineries are concentrated along the Snake River in southwestern Idaho, although a few are clustered in the eastern part of the Snake River Valley, between Mountain Home and Twin Falls; two others are north of Twin Falls, off of Hwy 93 in Ketchum near Sun Valley.

As new growing methods are introduced and new varieties of grapes are produced the types of grapes grown increases throughout Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Listed below are the most common varieties produced in Washington and neighboring States. The most common are written in all capitals
